Salt Water Production Director-Mowi Canada East

We are seeking an experienced Salt Water Production Director to join the Mowi Canada East Team! Reporting to the Managing Director, you will play a key strategic and leadership role in our safe, efficient, and environmentally sustainable production of Mowi quality salmon. This is a senior management position within the recently established Mowi Canada East Business Unit, with direct influence over the sustainable practices, culture, and future direction of the company.

In this role, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the implementation and execution of the production strategy and objectives
  • Ensuring all laws, government regulations, industry codes and company policies are followed
  • Fostering a climate of employee safety and development
  • Challenging the status quo of salmon farming with innovation and leading-edge practices to improve conditions for both salmon and employees
  • Control and facilitation of optimal production practices and utilization of resources while protecting company assets
  • Responsibility for achieving the highest standards of cost-control and biological performance

The Ideal Candidate would possess

  • Minimum of a Bachelor level education or equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years combined sea water experience as site /Area manager or in an operational role
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing people
  • Previous management experience in salmon production, and a track record of working constructively with planning, coordination, and implementation of strategy and/or new processes
  • Previous experience managing sea lice in a region with similar logistical and infrastructure challenges
  • A “can do” attitude with excellent cooperation and communications skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in an ever-changing environment
  • Service minded and trustworthy and dedicated to the company’s business, vision, and values
  • Strong financial acumen is required. Operational and capital expenditure budget creation, management of these budgets with a keen eye for cost control is key, excellent computer skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Ideal residential location for this role will be within Atlantic Canada, frequent travel within the region will be required.
