Project Manager Seawater Technology

The Global R&D and Technical Department is Mowi’s global Department for Research and Technical development. The department supports Mowi’s farming operational units with knowledge development, best practice recommendations and technical support to reach the company’s performance goals and sustainability ambitions. The department consists of 18 highly skilled technical experts within the areas of marine biology, aquaculture, technology & engineering, veterinary medicine, nutrition, economics, and data analytics. The department is responsible for innovation in the fields of both fish health and welfare, food safety and product quality, sustainability, as well as freshwater and seawater production and technology. 

Mowi’s Global R&D and Technical Department seeks a Project Manager Seawater Technology 

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and driven aquaculture enthusiast to work and operate in the intersect between technology, biology, and operations throughout Mowi’s seawater farming divisions. You are technically skilled with sound biological understanding and ideally have detailed knowledge about salmon farming operations. You will be leading and participating in key projects that will ensure improved technical and biological performance, and an even more environmentally responsible way of farming food in the ocean. Your opinion and knowledge will matter to and in Mowi, with influence and opportunity to bring about meaningful improvement in one of the largest seafood companies in the world. 

Key responsibilities: 

By joining the Global R&D and Technical Department you will have the opportunity to work with: 

• Project planning and management, including trial- and/or product design, budgeting, sampling, coordination and execution of field work, analyses of results and dissemination of findings in the form of best practice recommendations 
  
• Outline, communicate and support implementation of recommendations on best practices and operational excellence in the world’s largest salmon farming company 
• Special responsibility for projects relating to technological health management, and in particular sealice management and mitigation strategies 
• Providing technical support to operational units in Mowi, especially in matters of production technology and technological health management 
• Engaging with internal and external stakeholders 
• Securing project funding and project IPR, as relevant 

Your qualifications and skills:

You are able to see your projects effectively through to conclusion, extracting from them the essence that will bring our company forward. Desired qualifications for this position: 

• Education in technological and/or biological sciences, MSc, or equivalent degree 
  
• A strong biological understanding, ideally from experience working in aquaculture and/or marine sciences 
• Proficiency in the use of basic software tools. Experience with product design software tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and statistical software would be advantageous. Skills in bioinformatics/data analytics would be highly valued 
• Good mechanical understanding and aptitude would be advantageous 
• Passionate and self-going problem solver with drive and enthusiasm 
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly 
• Fluent in English and preferably Norwegian 
• Driver’s license (car and boat) will be especially useful
