We have created a new position and are now looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician for our Outcomes Research team.

As the global leader in fish health and vaccines, PHARMAQ part of Zoetis possesses expertise within bacteriology, microbiology, immunology, vaccinology, molecular biology and process technology. In 2021, 2 billion vaccine doses were delivered to Salmonids, Pangasius, Tilapia, Bass and Bream, leading to reduced use of antibiotics and healthier fish, as well as increased value for farmers and improved food safety for consumers worldwide.

We are now seeking an experienced Laboratory technician to handle samples from field and follow up studies on our products with market authorization, in close collaboration with our R&D team.

In this role, you will be at the center of our operations and find that everything we do, every day, is dedicated to make aquaculture progress. You will have an opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technologies and assist with identification and characterization of disease-causing bacteria, as well as development of analytical methods and vaccine concepts, for development of novel vaccines. You will also be involved in preparation of documentation for regulatory authorities including protocols, development- and validation reports etc. Your significant experience of applying knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of the discipline will make you a critical member of the team.

Key responsibilities

• Practical laboratory work, with a focus on microbiological and immunological methods
• Characterization of bacteria by molecular biological methods such as PCR, qPCR, sequence analyzes and antibody-based methods such as Western blotting and ELISA
• Implementation and development of ELISA methods to measure antibody responses in fish
• Participation in commercial projects for mapping new diseases
• Documentation work; e.g. preparation of protocols and reports

Qualifications and profile

• Bioengineering / engineering education or other college / university education within biotechnology, cell biology or other relevant disciplines
• Experience from process development for virus antigen
• Experience from working with different analysis methods
• Ability to work independently, accurately, purposefully and be a committed team player. Desire and willingness to work practically in the lab and plan your own working day
• Good Norwegian and English skills, both written and oral
