Freshwater Hatchery Manager

We are seeking an experienced Manager to join the Mowi Canada East Team in Stephenville, Newfoundland. Reporting to the Freshwater Production Director, you will take responsibility for our largest land-based recirculation hatchery in North America. This is a senior position with potential to develop further.
In this role, your main responsibilities will include:
- Plan and organize production activities, maintenance activities, and staff assignments to achieve production goals.
- Supervise, coach, and manage performance of staff while providing a safe working environment in consultation of HR, H&S, FW Director.
- Optimize fish health by implementing appropriate techniques specific to life stages, maintaining biosecurity, ensuring health monitoring is conducted, data collected, and proper therapeutants are used.
- Administrative tasks such as purchasing supplies, budgeting, cost control, financial reporting, production reporting, development of site-specific SOP’s etc.
The Ideal Candidate would possess
- Minimum of a Bachelor level education is required.
- Minimum 3 years combined freshwater experience as a Freshwater Facility Manager or in an equivalent operational role is essential
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams and developing people
- Previous management experience in salmon production, and a track record of working constructively with planning, coordination and implementation of strategy and/or new processes
- A “can do” attitude with excellent cooperation and communications skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in an ever-changing environment
- An innovative and challenging mindset with regard to strategy, implementation and execution
- Service minded, trustworthy and dedicated to the company’s business, vision and values
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Excellent written and spoken English
