Laxar Fiskeldi ehf. is a Salmon Farming Company in Iceland. Majority owner of Laxar Fiskeldi is Måsøval Eiendom, a family owned Norwegian Salmon farmer with 45 years of experience from the industry. The company operates two hatcheries at Bakki and at Fiskalon in Olfus, in addition to a land-based facility in Thorlakshofn. Laxar Fiskeldi operates salmon farming in Reydarfjordur where the company is licenesed to produce 6000 tonnes of salmon in sea cages. The company plans to increase production of salmon in the Eastern fjords in the long run up to a volume of 25000 tonnes.
The overall philosophy of Laxar Fiskeldi is to operate a salmon farming where knowledge is of prime concern and at the same time financial strength in order to meet and take on adverse issues and difficulties.

Laxar is seeking a Fish Health Manager (FHM) for developing the company’s management and strategy in fish health and fish welfare. Qualification will either be a Veterinarian or a Fish Health Biologist. Experience in fish health work in aquaculture and preferably salmonids is beneficial. The FHM will be located at Laxar main office in Reykjavik and report to the CEO.
The position requires skills in communication, structured approach to the discipline, ability to new thinking and dedication to improvement. The position will include some travelling to our production sites and other relevant meetings.
Icelandic professionals are encouraged to apply, but also other nationalities will be considered. Training will be supported for unexperienced applicants. The company languish is English, skills in both Icelandic and Norwegian are beneficial.
