Design Manager

AKVA group Land Based Norway AS is looking for a Manager for our Design department at Sømna. As the Design Manager you will have a key role in our engineering/design organisation, and be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing design work for different projects. The projects range from R&D projects, tenders and to projects in execution phase.  The Design Manager reports to General Manager.

Main responsibilities

• Manage the engineering and design team, and ensure resource allocation to projects and tenders
  
• Cooperate closely with Project Managers, and advise of any issues in a timely manner
• Follow-up and coordinate the design and engineering work, material or equipment manufacturing and fabrication activities
• Budget and forecast control
• Ensure that engineering and design activities are executed in accordance with our Project Execution Model
• Plan and carry out risk assessment activities
• Continuous improvement of work processes
• Ensure that a design basis is properly established at the start of a project, and monitor & report changes throughout the project execution
• Coordinate activities which span across AKVA group Land Based’s offices
• Take part in tender activities, and ensure quality control of estimates
• Establish and follow up on department’s performance targets, which are updated annually
• Participate in meetings with clients as required
• Be and active participant in the management team

Qualifications/Background

• Bachelor or M.Sc. within engineering or construction
  
• Less formal education may be compensated with documented relevant experience
• Some years’ experience with relevant engineering projects, and preferably managerial experience
• Good oral and written presentation skills in Norwegian and/or English
• You are a problem solver, have a systematic approach to your tasks and don’t mind pitching in if your colleagues need your help
• You are disciplined, and acknowledge the importance of adhering to deadlines

Other

Work location will be at our office at Sømna, close to Brønnøysund, but some travel will be required.
